Tesla Introduces Fresh Trailer Configuration Options with Recent Software revision
In a recent software update, version 2024.45.32, Tesla has introduced a new feature called "Trailer Profiles." This update was first publicly released by Elon Musk and initially revealed on X.
The Trailer Profiles feature offers a significant step forward in making Tesla vehicles more towing-friendly, even though it isn't fully automated. With this feature, drivers can save up to 20 trailer configurations, making it easier to switch between different trailers.
However, it's important to note that the Trailer Profiles feature does not provide a "Bike Hitch" mode. Users must manually input and switch between trailer profiles. Additionally, automatic detection of trailer types isn't available with this feature.
Trailer details that can be saved include trailer mileage and type (open or enclosed). This information helps the car better estimate energy consumption while towing, ensuring optimal performance and range.
The update also brings other improvements. Navigation settings now include route preferences, such as "prioritize highway" and "prioritize time." This allows drivers to customise their journey according to their preferences.
Moreover, the update adds three new Tencent game icons for Tesla users in China, expanding entertainment options within the vehicle.
Tesla has made it easier to locate trailer-friendly Supercharger stations directly on its in-car maps. This was introduced in November, making long journeys with trailers more manageable for Tesla drivers.
As with all software updates, users can expect continued improvements as Tesla refines its software based on feedback and user experience. The Trailer Profiles feature is just the latest example of Tesla's commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its vehicles.
